Robert George Smith

Robert G. 'Bobby'? Smith, 78, 1707 Buccaneer Drive #306, Johnson City, died Thursday, September 4, 2008 in the Lake Bridge Health Care Center. Mr. Smith was a native of Johnson City who lived in Germany for several years before moving back to Johnson City in 2001. He was the son of the late Vernie Williams and Gertrude Loveless Smith. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Millie Smith in 2001; two brothers, Harry Lee and Walter Smith; three sisters, Lucille Smith, Wanda Jean Smith and Mary Ann Hopkins. Mr. Smith was a retired U.S. Army Sergeant with over twenty years of service. He was a member of the Locust Street Church of Christ. Survivors include: three brothers, Billy Jack Smith and his wife Ruth of Johnson City, Paul Thomas Smith and his wife Sarah of Oakridge, Tn. and Charles Edward Smith and his wife Billy of Clinton, Tn.; one sister, Loretta 'Dotty'? Cloyd and her husband Farrell of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Locust Street Church of Christ Missionary Fund, 110 West Locust Street, Johnson City Tn 37604. A memorial service for Robert G. 'Bobby'? Smith will be conducted at 3 PM Sunday, September 7, 2008 in the Locust Street Church of Christ. Mr. Billy Jack Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends in the church from 2 to 3 PM Sunday prior to the service.
