Robert 'Shorty'? Hamelin, 76, Piney Flats, died Saturday, May 10, 2014 in the Johnson City Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Nashua, NH and a 30 year resident of Piney Flats, where he once owned his own lawn mower repair shop- Shortys Small Engine Repair. He was preceded in death by his parents, Violet Rose and Alfred Lucian Hamelin, and brother, Alfred R. Hamelin. Survivors include: his wife, Kay Harrelson Hamelin; two daughters, Stephanie Whaley and her husband Dennis, and Darlene Story and her husband Rick; two grandchildren, Heather Penix and Richard Story, Jr.; one aunt, Teri Hamelin; one brother, Normand Hamelin; two sisters, Jeanie Chaput and Terry Paladino; one sister-in-law, Betty Hamelin; several nieces and nephews; and mans best friend, Rosco. The family of Robert 'Shorty'? Hamelin will receive friends from 10 am to 11 am Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Poplar Ridge Christian Church, Piney Flats. The graveside service will follow in the Poplar Ridge Christian Church Cemetery. Minister Brad Perry will officiate. Active pallbearers will be: Rick Story, Richard Story, Jr., Gene Scott, Tim Carrier, Allen Sumner, and Tony Stout. Honorary pallbearers will be Dean Miles, Johnny Miller, Ashley Weaver, Jeff Love, Carroll Matherly, Dennis Whaley, Tom Milhorn, and Jay Shipley.
