Robert Leslie Connor

Robert L. Connor, 70, of 1018 Grace Drive, Johnson City, died Friday, August 1, 2008 at his residence. He was a native of Boston, Massachusetts, son of the late George and Lela Paine Connor. Robert was a retired veteran of both the Korean and Viet Nam eras, having served in the U. S. Navy for twenty years also with ten years service in the U. S. Navy Reserves. He worked as a mechanics room operator for General Dynamics, Texas Instruments and Seimens Corporation. Robert was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite and Shriners Club. He was a member of the Greenwood Baptist Church. Survivors include: his wife of over fifty years, Carolyn Ann Connor of the home; two sons, Robert L. Connor, II of Johnson City, Stephen L. Connor and his wife, Gabrielle of Germany; a daughter, Arlene Connor of Johnson City; two brothers and a sister-in-law, George and Lana Connor of Fort Pierce, Florida and William Connor of Kansas City, Missouri; three grandchildren, Julia Connor, Samantha Ann Connor Snyder and Jennifer Connor; a great grandson, Joseph Killian; several nieces and nephews; his special friend, King Solomon (the Siamese cat). A funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, August 3, 2008 at the Greenwood Baptist Church, under the direction of Rev. Harold McNabb, at 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until time of service at seven. A committal service will be conducted on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at the Mt. Home National Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. with a procession leaving Morris '' Baker Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. There will be Masonic rites presented. Active pallbearers will be: Gilbert Caldwell, Robert Armstrong, Marlyn 'Bugs'? Stoots, David Clabaugh, Dennis Friday and Chad Price. Honorary pallbearers will be: James Woodard, Cameron Hayel, Marcus Fleenor and David Casteel. Memorials may be made to the Adventa Hospice Services, 684 Highway 91, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
