Rev. Robert M. Davis, 87, of 211 Borings Chapel Road, Gray, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City. He was a son of the late Leonard 'Pappy ' Davis and Dale Cash Davis. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Harris. Rev. Davis was the pastor of Borings Chapel FWB Church for 41 years, also preaching and singing in a Quartet in churches across TN, NC and VA. He retired as a machine operator from Mayes Brothers Tool Co. in 1988.He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Ethel Lowe Davis; three sons, Bobby Davis of Limestone, Jerry Davis and his wife Lora of Boones Creek and Rev. Steve Davis and his wife Linda of Limestone; three grandchildren, Christopher Davis and his wife Sabrina and Pamela Davis all of Limestone and Dorothy Hurt and her husband Daniel of Gray; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Rev. Edd Davis of Boones Creek and Howard Davis of Johnson City and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 pm Tuesday, May 1, 2012 from the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Dayton Lewis, Rev. Ross Hughes and Rev. Charlie McKamey will officiate. Burial will be held in the Cherokee Community FW Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:00 pm on Wednesday. A procession will leave the funeral home at 1:15 pm for the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rev. Eddie McAmis, Chris Davis, Daniel Hurt, Terry Booker, Rev. Perry Booker, Larry Booker, Rev. Danny Hughes, Rev. Robert Crusenberry and Rev. David Montgomery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 until 8:00 pm on Tuesday.
