Robert T. Bob Rev. Edmonds

Rev. Robert T. ?Bob' Edmonds passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016, in the Franklin Woods Community Hospital. Bob was born in Knoxville, TN where he attended public schools, graduating from Knoxville High School. Soon after graduation from high school, Bob was employed by the Southern Railway System, where he worked for seven years as a freight car repairman. In 1957, Bob felt the call to the ministry. In preparation for this calling, he attended Emory & Henry College in Emory, VA and the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN. He received his B.S. degree in 1961. Bob attended seminary at Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, and graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in 1965. Bob was admitted on trial to the Holston Annual Conference and ordained a deacon in 1962; he was admitted to full connection and ordained an elder in 1965. Bob retired from full-time ministry in June 1999 and has since made his home in Johnson City, TN. In 2004 Bob was able to continue the ministry to which he had given his life by serving as Aftercare Coordinator with Morris-Baker Funeral Home. He visited families after their loss and welcomed them to grief support and fellowship events. He served during August of this year as interim pastor of The First United Methodist Church in Elizabethton, TN. Bob and his wife Jean were faithful members of Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife Jean Meadows Edmonds; one daughter, Teresa Young; one son, Tom Edmonds and his wife Shiryll; one brother, R. Mitchell Edmonds; three grandchildren, Robert Edmonds III and Malekka Bradley, Jon Edmonds and his wife Laura and Alicia Young and Andy Hoover; six great grandchildren, Abriana Edmonds, Elissia Edmonds, Mason Edmonds, Parker Edmonds, Xander Lowery and Emily Hoover; several nieces and nephews. The family of Rev. Robert T. ?Bob' Edmonds will receive friends from 6 to 7 PM Monday, June 27, 2016, in the Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at 7 PM with Rev. Charles Lipps and Rev. Mark Gooden officiating. The entombment service will be conducted at 1 PM Tuesday, in the Sherwood Memorial Gardens, 3176 Alcoa Hwy, Alcoa TN 37701. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Ministers, family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 PM Tuesday. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church, 201 E. Market Street, Johnson City, TN 37601.
