Mr. Roger E. Fields, age 51, of 1912 Fairway Drive, Johnson City, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Fields was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City. He is the son of Jean Montgomery Fields and the late Dr. Ray Fields. In addition to his father one brother, Fredrick B. Fields also preceded him in death. Mr. Fields was a 1977 graduate of Science Hill High School. He attended East Tennessee State University where he was in the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He later transferred to the University of Tennessee where he continued his activities in the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and graduated in 1984. Mr. Fields was on the Board of the Tipton-Haynes Historic Site. He was very active in the Troop 35 at First Christian Church and continued that with his son as an Eagle Scout. Mr. Fields was an Entrepreneur and owner of Charleys Steakery at the Fort Henry Mall in Kingsport, Tn. Survivors include: his loving wife of twenty-four years, Mary 'Tina'? Fields of the home; one son, Morgan Fields of the home. The family would like to express a special thank you to Broadmore Assisted Living and the second floor of the Johnson City Medical Center for their care of Mr. Fields. A graveside service for Mr. Roger E. Fields will be conducted at 10 AM Wednesday May 4, 2011 in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pastor Lon Tobin will officiate. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery by 9:50 AM Wednesday. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Boy Scouts of America Troop 35 attention Lori, 129 Boone Ridge Drive, Johnson City, Tn. 37615.
