Roger Ramsey

December 31, 1941 — April 4, 2006

Roger Ramsey, 64, Gray, Tn., died Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at the Johnson City Medical Center, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Ramsey was a Carter County native and had lived most of his life in Washington County. He was a son of the late Dana Harmon Ramsey, Sr. and Zella Lee Haire Ramsey and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothea J. Ball and Marjorie Wheeler and one brother, Marion 'Hot Shot' Ramsey. Mr. Ramsey was a retired farmer and a former employee of Dockery?s Flooring and Crawford Drywall. He was a Protestant. Survivors include two daughters, Nicole Teague, Elizabethton and Krystal Barber, Gray; two brothers, Dana Ramsey, Jr., Johnson City and Harold Ramsey, Gray; one sister, Bonnie Jones, Gray; four grandchildren, Savannah Barber, Jason Barber, Bradley Teague and Ava Long and many beloved nieces and nephews, including special nieces, Sheena Hawkins, Rhonda Shaheen and Linda Lett. A funeral service for Roger Ramsey will be conducted at 8 PM Thursday, April 6, 2006 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 12 Noon, Friday, April 7, 2006 at Washington County Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 11:30 AM and travel in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Benny Hawkins, Jason Barber, Johnny Douglas, Charles Glass, Johnny Rogers and Shawn Ramsey. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Shadden, John Brown and Terry Prater. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home and at other times at the home of a niece, 149 Lake Drive, Gray Tennessee.
