Ronald Lee Rocky Oxendine

Ronald Lee 'Rocky' Oxendine, 54, 412 West Poplar Street, Johnson City died Saturday, January 14, 2006 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Oxendine was a native of Carter County and had lived most of his life in Washington County. He was a son of Mary Elizabeth Vaught Oxendine of the home and the late George W. Oxendine. He was a self-employed handyman and a member of the Sinking Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Oxendine is preceded in death by: his father; a sister, Kathy Oxendine and a brother, Wayne Oxendine. Survivors other then his mother include: two daughters, Amy Gentry and Christine Long, both of Johnson City; three brothers, Winston Oxendine, Sr and Richard Oxendine, both of Johnson City, and Jerry Oxendine of Jonesborough; two sisters, Patsy Lee of Kissimmee, FL and Lynne Farrell of St. Cloud, FL; one granddaughter, Jenna Gentry of Jonesborough; several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Ronald Lee 'Rocky' Oxendine will be conducted at 8 PM Tuesday, January 17, 2006 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Reece Harris will officiate. The graveside service will be conducted at 10 AM Wednesday in the Carr Cemetery with his nephew, Winston Oxendine, Jr. officiating. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 9:30 AM to go to the cemetery in procession. Active pallbearers will be T.J. Oxendine, John Oxendine, Kevin Oxendine, Tommy Long, William Bennett, and Lloyd Bennett. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Blevins, Jerry Miller, Danny Williams, and Larry Lloyd. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday prior to the service.
