Rondal L. Boyer Sunrise at December 15, 1934 '? Sunset at January 1, 2015 Another leaf has fallen from the Boyer family, Rondal L. Boyer, 80, of Johnson City, left his loved ones and friends to cherish his memory after a brief illness. Mr. Boyer was a Washington County native. He was the son of the late Nathan L. 'Roy'? Boyer and Rella L. Boyer. Mr. Boyer proudly served with the US Army from 1956 to 1963. While in the service he was a Teletype operator, worked in Cryptographics, was a Staff Sergeant E5 and also received the Good Conduct Medal. Following his military service he was employed by First National Bank and Holston Defense. Rondal was employed by the Veterans Hospital in Administration for 34 years. He also worked with the first resident doctors to come through the V.A. and received care from some until his death. He was always very attentive to the veterans and their families. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Vincent L. Boyer, and daughter, Karan M. Boyer. Survivors include: his wife of 56 years, Sarah Hale Boyer; daughter-in-law, Angie Rife Boyer; grandson, Grayson L. Boyer; two sisters, Geraldine Hicks and Sandra Winters; and a brother-in-law, Roger Hale. The family of Rondal L. Boyer will receive friends from 11 am until 12 pm Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 12 pm at Morris-Baker. Rev. Allen Huff will officiate. Mr. Boyers final resting place will be at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Following the funeral, minister, family, and friends will proceed to the cemetery for a 1 pm graveside service. The Boone Dam VFW Post 4933 will bestow military honors.
