Mr. Ronnie Wayne Phillips, age 52, of Johnson City, passed away Friday, February 28, 2014 in the Johnson City Medical Center, following a lengthy illness. Mr. Phillips was a lifelong resident of Johnson City. He was the son of Jimmy and Judy Hurt Phillips. Ronnie was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and cars. Ronnie also greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandbabies. He worked as a forklift operator. In addition to his parents, survivors include: his wife of 21 years, Hope Baker Phillips; four children, Leighann Nelson, Jimmy Lee Phillips and his wife Stormi, Daniel Nelson and his wife Brittny, and Caleb Phillips and his wife Tobi; six grandchildren, Daimian, Nataleigh, Michael, Malik, Bentley, and Knighten; one sister, Sandra Walker; niece, Amanda Anders; nephews, Chris and Bradley Walker; several other nieces and nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. The Phillips family wishes to extend a special thank you to Shirley and Conley Fender and Angel Hefty for their love and support. The family of Mr. Ronnie Phillips will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Monday, March 3, 2014 in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. The funeral service will follow in the North Chapel at 7 PM. Reverend Kenneth Grindstaff will officiate. The committal service will be conducted at 1:30 PM Tuesday in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Minister, family, and friends are requested to meet at Morris-Baker by 12:40 PM Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
