Roy Henry Huskey

Mr. Roy Henry Huskey, Sr., age 88, of Johnson City, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2011 at the Appalachian Christian Village. Mr. Huskey was a native of Bryson City, NC. who had lived most of his life in Chattanooga, TN. He was the son of the late, Roy Marshal and Eunice Myrtle Beck Huskey. In addition to his parents his wife Mary Jane Huskey and one son, Roy Henry Huskey, Jr. also preceded him in death. Mr. Huskey was a pipefitter for the Dupont Company for thirty years.. He was also a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. He was a member of Cohutta First Baptist Church in Cohutta, Ga. While in Johnson City, Mr. Huskey attended the Locust Street Church of Christ. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Hixson, Tn. Being outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren are what he enjoyed the most. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener, and bird watcher. Survivors include; one daughter, Jane Huskey Howell and her husband Mark of Johnson City; five Grandchildren, Laura Howell and her husband Teague Holmes of Breckenridge, Colorado, Sarah Howell and Zachary Howell both of Johnson City, Joshua Huskey of Orlando, FL and Abigail Huskey of Huntington Beach, California; a special friend, Mary Derting of Johnson City. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association, 208 Sunset Drive, Johnson City, Tn. 37604 or to Locust Street Church of Christ, 110 W. Locust Street, Johnson City, Tn. 37604. The funeral service for Mr. Roy Henry Huskey, Sr. will be conducted Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 6:00pm in the Morris Baker North Chapel. Richard Lewis and Billy Jack Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 PM Saturday prior to the service. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 12 noon Monday, May 23, 2011 in the Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson, Tennessee. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 11 AM to 12 noon Monday at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel prior to the service.
