Roy Lee Fair, Sr., 72, 2608 Browns Mill Road, Johnson City died Monday, January 16, 2006 at his residence following a brave battle with cancer. Mr. Fair was a native of Carter County and had lived most of his life in Johnson City. He was a son of the late James J. and Lucile Denny Fair. Mr. Fair was retired from American Water Heater and formerly did construction work in sheet metal with Flour-Daniels Construction. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Korean War Metal. Mr. Fair was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the First FWB Church , the Senior Friends and thoroughly loved his church and the church family. Mr. Fair is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Earl Fair. Survivors include: his wife, Shirley Hyder Fair of the home; one son, Roy Lee Fair, Jr. of Monroe, GA; two daughters and sons-in-law, Norma Jean and Farris Stewart of Portland, TN, Bobbie and Tom Trinchera of Johnson City; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Alford and Hannah Fair of Elizabethton, and Cecil Fair of Johnson City; one sister and brother-in-law, Jo Linda and Joe Hartley of Johnson City; five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
