Roy “Lonnie” Ward, age 75, of Bristol, Tennessee, died January 1, 2021 at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Lonnie was born on December 24, 1945 in Bristol, Virginia, to the late Roy Ernest Ward and the late Ella Mae Ellison Ward.
After completing high school, Lonnie joined the armed forces and served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War. Afterwards, he became a truck driver. He enjoyed getting out and doing things, and he loved Blues music.
Lonnie, also known as W4FXO, was in the Bristol Amateur Radio Club, or HAMM Radio. The 2 meter and fusion nets Tuesday night, January 5, 2021, will be dedicated in his honor and they will have a last call for Lonnie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Toni Ward.
Lonnie is survived by his sister, Linda Combs; brother, Rex Ward; niece, Becca Blackstock; nephews, Chad Frazier and Brandon Epperson; great nephew, Owen Blackstock; and great niece, Brittany Osborne.
Due to Covid-19, services are private. Interment will occur at Mountain Home National Cemetery in the Annex.
