Keith Butler

February 27, 1955 — February 28, 2025

Jonesborough

Royce "Keith" Butler, age 70 of Jonesborough, Tennessee passed away unexpectedly on February 28, 2025. He was born to the late William "Jr." and Blonda Butler on February 27, 1955 in Johnson City, Tennessee.

Keith was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Cathy Butler, and a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He had a remarkable knack for making people laugh, always armed with a quick joke or a funny story that would light up the room. Keith never met a stranger, and his compassion for others was palpable - he was always the first to lend a hand when someone needed it. Keith put his christian faith into action by the way he lived his life and cared for others.

Affectionately known as "PawPaw" by his cherished grandchildren, he lived for his family and often took on the role of the family photographer, earning the playful nickname "PawPawrazzi." His sense of humor and infectious spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was a graduate from Happy Valley High School, where he excelled at track and cross country. After graduation he started working at Eastman Chemical Company, where he worked his way all the way up to research and development. He retired after 43 years of dedicated service. In his retirement he was able to devote more time to his yardwork, watching his grandchildren, and his little 4-legged buddy, Bailey.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Miller, and brother, Rick Butler.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 36 years, Cathy Booth Butler, sons, Bryon (Chelsey Barnes) Butler, Dr. Michael Butler, Benjamin (Ginger) Lamie, daughter, Julie (Michael) Collins; grandchildren, Sean, Maia, Cameron, Emma, Owen, Callie, Scarlett, and Zac, great-granddaughter, Lara, brother, Larry (Carol) Butler, sister-in-law, Angie Butler, and brother-in-law, Larry Miller, as well as several loved nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 7, 2025 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A memorial service will immediately follow at 6:00pm with Fred Booth officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude's or the humane society.
