Ruby 'Alice'? Duncan Painter, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2012 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a lifelong resident of Washington County and a former member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Chuckey. She made her home in Johnson City for over 75 years. She was a retired supervisor of the telephone operators and receptionists at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital having worked a combined 33 years there and at the former Johnson City Memorial Hospital. She had previously worked as an operator for the United Intermountain Telephone Company. After retirement she enjoyed traveling with family, working in her yard, taking walks, visiting with her Hamilton and Lamont Street neighbors and reading. Survivors include; two sons, Woodrow Painter, Sr. of Johnson City and Roger Painter and his wife Joyce of Piney Flats; three Grandchildren, Julie Wanbaugh and her husband Josh of Bradenton, FL, Woody Painter, Jr. of Gray and Keith Painter and wife of Dutton, AL; several Great Grandchildren; her cousin, Louise Watts of Jonesborough who was like a sister to her; a special friend, Billie Williams of Johnson City; All of her extended family including step daughters, Louise Bailey and June Painter and children and all of the Duncan families she has gotten to know in recent times. A special thank you is extended to all her neighbors and friends who were able to visit her and have included her in their thoughts and prayers during these recent times, as well as all the caregivers at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 pm Friday from the Morris- Baker North Chapel. Graveside services will be conducted from the Washington County Memory Gardens at 12:00 pm on Saturday. Dr. Ed Crook and Rev. . Dennis Griffith will officiate. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Cansler, Randy Hagy, Jackie Riley, Jeff Story, John Robinson and Howard 'Barney' Wright. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00m pm on Friday.
