Ruby Loraine Jones Guinn died Tuesday, September 21, 2010. She was 85. Ruby was a native of Newport and had lived in the Jonesborough and Johnson City area for more than 60 years. She was a daughter of the late James Isaac and Willie Edna McKnight Jones and was also a member of the Guinn family of Lamar.She was a graduate of Edwina School in Cocke County and the Tennessee School of Beauty Culture in Knoxville. She was a retired hairdresser and had man aged and worked in a number and had managed and worked in a number of shops in the Johnson City area including the Salon de Beauty, the Elite and Oakland Plaza Beauty Bar. Ruby was a charter member of North Johnson City Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Sharon 'Bobby'? Guinn. Survivors include her children, Lou Shipley of Knoxville, and Bill Guinn and Sue Guinn Legg, both of Johnson City; sister and brothers, Jeanette Rush of Tampa, FL, John 'J.T.'? Jones of Newport, and James Ed Jones of Locust Grove, GA; four granddaughters; five great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and many beloved friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 25, in the South Chapel of the Morris '? Baker Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Powell officiating. A committal service will be held at Monte Vista Memorial Park following the funeral service. Visitation will be from noon to 2 pm prior to the service.
