Russell William Pregno, 75, 1556 Powder Branch Road, Johnson City, died Friday, July 1, 2005, at his residence. Mr. Pregno was a native of Harwington, Conn., and had lived in Johnson City for the past four years. He was a son of the late Joseph and Eva Jennie Slate Pregno. Mr. Pregno was a retired truck driver and a Army veteran. He is preceded in death by his parents, and several other family members. Mr. Pregno was a faithful Christian at the Elizabethton Church of Christ. He loved the church, nature and was a friend to all. He will be missed and was loved very much. Survivors include: his wife, Pearl Calvert Pregno, of the home; two step-sons, David Ernest Mays, of California, and John Mays, of Rome, Ga.; one daughter, Carol White, of Johnson City; two brothers, George Pregno, of Conn., and Ernie Pregno, of Indiana; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Russell William Pregno will be conducted at 2 P.M. Sunday, July 3, 2005, in the Elizabethton Church of Christ. Mr. Eddy Craft, minister will officiate. The burial of the cremains will be performed at a later date in the Mountain Home National Cemetery.
