Ruth Green Marshall, Hiwassee Hill Drive, Johnson City, died Saturday, May 2, 2009 at her daughters residence. Mrs. Marshall was a native of Robbinsville, NC and had lived most of her life in Johnson City. She was a daughter of the late Farnum and Lockey Randolph Burleson. Mrs. Marshall was preceded in death by her first husband, Luther M. Green, her second husband, Cecil Clyde Marshall, two sisters, Melba Colthorp and Lillian Young and two brothers, Paul Burleson and Glenn Burleson and one son-in-law, Morris Jack Greene. She was a Doctors Assistant and retired from the Johnson City Eye Hospital. Mrs. Marshall was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church and was a Sunday School teacher and very active choir member for many years. Survivors include two daughters, Anne Greene, Johnson City and Winifred Sonner and her husband, Don, Bristol, TN; one son, Wayne Greene and his wife, Ann, Bristol, TN; six grandchildren, Steve Greene, Elizabethton, Marty Greene, Dalton, GA, Jeff Greene, Bristol, TN, Ashleigh Osborne, Bristol, VA, Whitney Sonner, Blountville, TN and Shannon Greene, Bristol, TN; eight great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Edith Burleson, Bakersville, NC and Helen Burleson, Mooresville, NC and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Mrs. Marshall will be conducted at 3 PM Monday, May 4, 2009 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Reverend Gary Thacker and Reverend Marty Greene will officiate. Jeff and Leslie Greene will provide music. Graveside services will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Don Sonner, Steve Greene, Marty Greene, Jeff Greene, Ken Osborne and Cody Greene. The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM Monday at the funeral home and at other times at the home of her daughter, Anne Greene, 702 Hiwassee Hill Drive, Johnson City. The family expresses thanks to the Johnson City Medical Center Hospice, a special nurse, Ivy Tester and a special care giver, Stephanie Peters for her loving care; also, Peggy McKinney.
