Ruth Greenwell

Ruth Greenwell, 96, of Johnson City, died Tuesday, April 15, 2014 in the Appalachian Christian Village nursing wing. She had been a resident of ACV since December 2007. Ruth was a Washington County native and a daughter of the late Lemuel Tine Greenwell and Hazel Phillips Greenwell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers: Harold, L.T., Jr. 'Dick'?, David, Carl Max, and Dennis, and four sisters: Bess Watson, Pauline Carson, Isabel Slonaker, and Irene Greenwell. Ruth was a member of First United Methodist Church of Johnson City and was a member of the Susannah Wesley Sunday School Class. She retired from Empire Furniture Company in Johnson City after many years of service. Survivors include one brother, Sam and his wife Geraldine of Jonesborough, and a sister-in-law, Lois Greenwell of Johnson City. Numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews also survive. The funeral service for Ms. Ruth Greenwell will be conducted at 11 am on Monday, April 21, 2014 in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Reverend Garland Thayer will officiate. The family will greet friends following the service. Entombment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
