Ruth Jordan

Ruth Lineback Jordan, 79, Johnson City, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at the Johnson City Medical Center, following a brief illness. Mrs. Jordan was a Butler, TN native, and a former resident of Barnwell, SC and had lived in Johnson City since 1959. She was a daughter of the late Henry and Mary Matney Lineback and was also preceded in death by her husband, Dempsey G. Jordan, one sister and one brother. Mrs. Jordan was retired from the Johnson City Eye Hospital after 34 years of service. Mrs. Jordan was a member of the Elizabethton Church of Christ. Survivors include one daughter, Annie Lafollette, Dandridge, TN; one son Dempsey C. Jordan, Johnson City, TN; four grandchildren, David Lafollette, Chris Jordan, Kimberley Pinedo and Cherylene Lafollette; four great grandchildren, Melanie Pinedo, Samantha King, David King and Ella Pinedo. A graveside service for Mrs. Jordan will be held at 2 PM Friday, June 20, 2008 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Mr. Eddie Craft and Mr. Roby Ellis will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be David Lafollette, Chris Jordan, Moises Pinedo, George Ellis, Steve Maupin, and Jerry Whitehead. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the San Borja Church of Christ, Lima, Peru through Elizabethton Church of Christ, 137 E. C Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
