This is a first… Life without Mom, without Ruthie, no Mamaw to call, no more Aunt that listens or your friend that was always there…
Ruth joined her Lord and Savior this Easter Season on April 20, 2019, peacefully at home with each of her precious children bedside. A mere 43 days from celebrating her 89th birthday… let us Rejoice!
Born in Roan Mountain and raised in Johnson City, her father, Robert Street †2003, mother, Rosa Hughes Street †1984, and loving sister, Ruby Street Christian †2012 (Lyons †2004) preceded Ruth in death.
She was a longtime member of Heritage Baptist Church.
Taft “Eudy” McKinney †2003 charmed her right out of high school and, after a couple of tours during WWII, returned home and married his high school sweetheart.
Their five children, Brenda (Smiley), Sherry (Gary), Steve (Donna), Tammy, and Kay (David); eleven grandchildren, Joe, Julianne, Whitney, David, Gabriel, Sandra, Horton, Victoria, Steven, Carmyn, and Seth; seven great grandchildren, Adreanna, Audy, Ella Grace, Ashby, Lily, Liam, and Linc; two nephews Larry Christian (Linda) and John Hames (Vicky); and “TeddyBear” cousin, Minwer Subeh (Julia) extend a heartfelt thank-you for all the love shown.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM at Morris-Baker Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 1:30 PM. A committal service will be held afterwards, at 3:00 PM at Monte Vista Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, please show your love by making your contribution to Ruthies.org. Ruthies.org will continue Mom’s love for children and focus on helping “aged-out” foster children live richer, happier lives by providing a place to enjoy gardening, cooking, creative writing, art, and working puzzles.
