Ruthie Cozad Hollifield

Ruthie Marie Cozad Hollifield, 73, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2019, at her home. She was a native of Washington County, a daughter of the late Floyd Benjamin and Olive Wright Cozad. Ruthie served as an RN in the Air Force after graduating from ETSU. She worked for most of her career at the Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina, and then at the Center on Aging and Health in Erwin. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Ruthie loved to cook and spend time with her family, especially the grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by: three sisters, Joan Crawford, Carolyn Henderson, and Eunice Owens; five brothers, Eldon Cozad, Floyd Arthur Cozad, Olan Cozad, and Russell Cozad. Survivors include: her children, Marica Hollifield and Nikki Norris, of Mount Holly, North Carolina; sisters, Patsy Blevins of Jonesborough, Lynda Kious of Telford, and Patricia Jones of Jonesborough; grandchildren, Emily Norris, Hailey Hollifield, and Hayden Hollifield Walls; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family of Ruthie Hollifield will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 21, 2019, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM. A committal will be held afterward at 2:00 PM at Monte-Vista Memorial Park. Friends and family are asked to gather at the graveside by 1:50 PM.
