Sandra Marie Sis Munsey

June 3, 1967 — July 8, 2013

Sandra Marie 'Sis'? Munsey, age 46, of Johnson City, Tenn., passed away Monday, July 8, 2013, at her home after a courageous and determined battle with breast cancer. Sis was born in Kingsport, Tenn., but lived her younger years in Pennington Gap, Va. She is the daughter of Donald Richard Munsey, Sr., and the late Elizabeth Lowe Munsey. Sis graduated from Pennington High School in 1985 and was a member of the band and flag corp. She was also a member of the Beta Club. She earned her bachelors degree from E.T.S.U. in 1991, majoring in business and minoring in marketing. Sis was the Director of Programming for Bristol Virginia Utilities in Bristol, Va., and had also served as Marketing DIrector for Comcast Cable. She attended St. Marys Catholic Church in Johnson City. Survivors include two brothers, Donald Richard 'Ric'? Munsey, Jr., and his wife Stephanie of Galax; and Stephen Ross Munsey and his wife Renee of Roanoke; best friend, Sue Brown of Kingsport; paternal grandmother, Eula M. Munsey of Jonesville, Va.; several aunts, uncles and cousins; two special nephews, Ross and Mason; and her wonderful pets she loved so much. Sis was happiest when spending time with her family and friends. She loved birdwatching, camping, picnics, gardening, grilling on her deck, and spoiling her nephews. Her wonderful laughter, beautiful smile and deep blue eyes made her a special gift to all who new her. She will be sadly and deeply missed. The funeral service for Sandra Marie 'Sis'? Munsey will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013, in the Morris-Baker South Chapel in Johnson City. Deborah Yeomans will officiate. The graveside committal service will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park in Johnson City. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at Morris-Baker. Memorial contributions may be made to the Johnson City/Washington County Animal Shelter, 525 Sells Avenue, Johnson City, Tenn. 37604 or to your local branch of the Susan G. Komen Foundation to find a cure for breast cancer.
