July 14, 1937 — April 27, 2016

Sara B. Hayes, 78, Johnson City, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family into the arms of Jesus. Sara was a Washington County native, and daughter of the late James Anderson and Thelma Felts Hawkins. Sara was the owner and property manager of Lakeshore Apartments and treated her tenants like family. She was a member of Boone Trail Baptist Church. Sara loved her family and church family dearly. She had a very strong faith, and loved her church. For her 73rd birthday, she went skydiving. In addition to her parents, Sara was preceded in death by: her husband of 49 years, Jimmy F. Hayes; one sister, Charlotte Livesay; and one brother, Jimmy Dean Hawkins. Survivors include: one daughter, Teresa Reese and her husband Cecil; two sons, Jimmy L. ?Tiger' Hayes and his wife Deborah, and Roger A. Hayes and his wife Donna; four grandsons, Trevor, Taylor and Parker Hayes, and Matthew Reese; one sister, Sue Isenberg; two step grandsons, Michael and Robbie Carathers; and one very special companion, Furbie. The family would like to especially thank: Dr. Tony Haley, Dr. Trey Robertson, the entire nursing staff on the 3rd floor of ICU at Franklin Woods, Gail Hayes, and Deanna Branham. The family of Sara Hayes will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday April 29, 2016 at Boone Trial Baptist Church, 1985 Carroll Creek Road, Johnson City TN 37615. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Dwight Jenkins officiating. Pallbearers will be: Parker Hayes, Taylor Hayes, Matthew Reese, Ricky Campbell, Wayne Bledsoe, and Don Dwyer. Honorary pallbearers include: her other grandson, Trevor Hayes, and the entire congregation at Boone Trail Baptist Church. Family and friends may meet at the cemetery or at the funeral home by 10:30 AM Saturday to go in procession to Washington County Memory Gardens for 11:00 AM graveside services.
