Sarah Jane Onks

Sarah Jane Onks, 81, of #6 E. Tunbridge Court, died Friday, November 17, 2006 at her residence. Mrs. Onks was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County and a graduate of the class of 1943 at Science Hill High School. She was the daughter of the late Dr. William Alvin Jones and Sarah Jane Chritselious Jones. Her husband, Marvin C. Onks, preceded her in death in 1986.She was retired from the canteen service at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center. Mrs. Onks was a member of Jonesborough United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, Marvin R. Onks of Beaufort, SC, and Mark P. Onks of Jonesborough; two daughters, Deborah Barnum and Daphne Mays both of Johnson City; 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A funeral service for Mrs. Onks will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2006 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. Reverend Bradley Scott will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Jonesborough United Methodist Children?s Fund, C/O Jonesborough United Methodist Church, 211 W. Main Street, P.O.
