Sarah Jane Stanley

August 20, 1918 — November 3, 2012

Jane Stanley, 94, of Johnson City, died Saturday, November 3, 2012 at her residence. She was a native of Flat Lick, Kentucky, daughter of the late John Henry and Pearl Evans Epperson. Jane was a homemaker and former Avon Lady. She attended the Central Baptist Church. Jane was affectionately known as 'Mama Jane'? the name given to her by her first grandchild. She was a great cook and enjoyed gardening when her health permitted. She quilted a quilt for each of her children. She loved anything related to being with her family. In addition to her parents, her husband William Claude Stanley (1997) and four brothers and four sisters preceded her in death. Survivors include: her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Priscilla Stanley of Staunton, VA; two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara Ann Rosenbaum of Jonesville, VA and Brenda and Lawrence Porterfield of Johnson City; a brother and sister-in-law, Shelby and Dressler Epperson of Prestonsburg, KY; nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at the Monte Vista Memorial Park at 11:00 am under the direction of Pastor Randy Helms. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery for the service. A receiving of friends will be at her daughters residence at: #4 Northwood Court, Johnson City, TN 37601 after the service until 3:00 pm. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Colonial Hills. Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to: The River, c/o First Presbyterian Church, 105 S.
