Sarah Ruth “Sagie” McElyea, 96, of Johnson City, TN, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Johnson City Medical Center after living a full and beautiful life.
Sarah was born in Jonesborough, TN and was a resident of Johnson City, TN.
Sarah's career consists of cosmetology where she worked for several hair salons, her latest at JCPenney.
She was a member of Lynwood Church of Christ.
Her hobbies were playing multiple instruments, traveling with family and friends, cooking Sunday dinners, and having time with her family. She loved listening to music and dancing. Sarah was a loving woman with a heart of gold.
In addition to her parents, William and Sallie Nave King, she was preceded in death by: her former husband, Walter McElyea; daughter, Brenda Moore; four sisters; one half-sister; four brothers; and her grandson, Steven McElyea.
Those left to cherish Sarah’s memory include: her children, Gerald McElyea, Ronnie McElyea, and Paula Freeman; six grandchildren, Alan Moore, Mark, Kelly, and Logan Freeman, Eric McElyea, and Crystal Hicks; four great-grandchildren, Nathan Moore, A’Daya Scott, Shelby Freeman, and Autumn Hazelwood; three great-great-grandchildren, Ryder Young, Nora and Henry Hicks; one half-brother and sister; and lots of nieces and nephews.
A Graveside service for Sarah Ruth “Sagie” McElyea has been changed, due to possible weather conditions, to a service inside the Mausoleum Chapel at Monte Vista Memorial Park on Thursday, May 23rd, 2024, at 2:00 PM. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:50 PM Thursday for those services.
