Mrs. Sheela Sakhare, 76, of Johnson City, TN, joined the Lord Fri, July 31, 2015, in the Johnson City Medical Center. Sheela was a resident of Johnson City the past 50 years, and was forever proud of her Indian heritage. She was originally from Hubli, Karnataka State, India and was one of the first Indians to immigrate to Johnson City. Her second family was the many members of the United Methodist Church. Sheela was a devoted homemaker, avid walker, gardener, and deep believer in God and in giving back to her community. In addition to her parents, Sheela was preceded in death by 3 sisters Parakka, Ratnakka, and Prema. Survivors include her husband Vishwa (83), three sons, Rajan, Ravi and wife Amy, and Anil and wife Shruti; Grandchildren Ashwin , Anisha, Julian, Oliva, and Devon; Sister Malakka . She has 18 nephews and nieces. Visitation is from 12 pm to 2 pm Sunday, August 2, 2015, at First United Methodist Church, 900 Spring St, Johnson City, TN. Open funeral service will follow at 2 pm. Burial committal is for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
