Mrs. Sheila Gayle Scalf, 72, of Watauga, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Sheila was a lifelong resident of the Johnson City and Watauga area, with over 24 years of military travel with her spouse and children.
Sheila was a graduate of Science Hill High School. She then graduated from Coastal Carolina Community College’s School of Nursing class of 1982 in Jacksonville, NC. During her nursing career, Sheila worked at the V.A. at Mountain Home and at Frontier Health. Sheila will be remembered by many coworkers, nurses, physicians, and beloved patients for her caring heart.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by: beloved grandmother, Betty A. Foust; and grandfather, Frank Foust.
Survivors include: her husband of fifty-three years, Harold E. Scalf; two daughters, Melissa Guinn and her husband Keith, and Crystal Bishop; son, David E. Scalf and his wife Lisa; brother, John Foust and his wife Kathy; six grandchildren, Megan Scalf, Patricia Scalf, Chelsea Guinn, David Guinn, Ashley Guinn, and Savannah Bishop; and three great-grandchildren, Aiden, Madison, and Brooklynn.
A funeral service will be held for Mrs. Sheila Foust at 12:30 PM on Monday, August 12, 2019, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 1:45 PM at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery gates by 1:35 PM to go in procession.
Active pallbearers will be: Keith Guinn, Donnie Roberts, David Guinn, Michael Foust, and Bill Hammer.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring staff of Amedysis Home Health in Elizabethon, especially Wilma. They would also like to thank State of Franklin Health, especially doctor Rachel Monderer and Nurse Practitioner Tracy Romans.
