Sherell Billy Keever, 72, of Johnson City, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at The Waters of Johnson City.
Bill was a native of Johnson City, son of the late Eugene and Edna Tipton Keever.
He was a proud veteran, spending 23 years in the U.S. Navy before retiring in 1990. During that time he served in Vietnam from 1968-69. He worked throughout his career as a mechanical engineer, maintaining and repairing submarines. His vast knowledge also lent itself to teaching, something he worked hard at to be sure younger sailors were well prepared for duty.
After his time with the Navy, Bill and his wife Lonie began their journey in ministry, spreading the gospel on the radio for nearly 20 years.
He was a kindhearted man who never met a stranger. He loved to spend time outdoors, whether that was camping or working in the yard.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two children in heaven; brother, Eddie; and sister, Joann.
Those surviving include: his wife of 52 years, Lonie Smithpeters Keever; sisters, Barbara, Charlotte, and Susie; special sister-in-law, Mary Maupin and close brother-in-law, Mark Smithpeters; beloved pets, Misty and Peachy; as well as many more nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
