Shirley Ellen Dye

December 6, 1946 — August 11, 2020

Shirley Ellen Dye, 73, of Jonesborough, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at her residence. She was a native of Elizabethton, daughter of the late James R. and Thelma Grace Freeman Russell.

Shirley was a retired nutrition supervisor who worked at Washington County Schools for over twenty years. She was a member of Knob Creek Church of the Brethren. Shirley loved reading (especially her bible), watching movies, and singing in gospel groups. She had a passion for animal rights and animal issues.

In addition to her parents, her husband, James Dye; two sisters Imogene Crouch and Patsy Walker; a brother, Charles Russell all preceded her in death.

Those left to cherish her memory; two daughters, Robin Jones (Aaron Light) and Lisa Simpson (Randall); two granddaughters, Brandi Quesinberry (Brandon) and Savannah LeBarre (Bryan) and a grandson, Dalton Light; three great grandchildren, Ellie, Aubrey and Isaiah Quesinberry; two sisters, Barbara Hollifield and Lowanda Constable; a special niece, Linda Squiers and several nieces and nephews; her beloved dog, Maggie.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 15, 2020 from 12:30 til 2:30 pm at Morris-Baker Funeral Home in the Dogwood Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 pm at Monte Vista Memorial Park under the direction of LeGrande Boyer. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Washington County Johnson City Animal Shelter, 3411 N. Roan Street, Johnson City, TN 37604.
