SSG Spears, Benjamin Cody, 27, passed away 21 December 2024.

Ben was born on 27 February 1997 to Ricky and Amanda Spears in Johnson City, Tennessee.

He was a 2015 graduate of Daniel Boone High School.

Ben joined the United States Army in April 2019. He went to Fort Benning, Georgia for basic training, before he and his family were stationed at Fort Eustis, Virginia. Ben was deployed twice, once to Japan and then to the Philippines. Benjamin received his associate’s degree after becoming an 88K Watercraft Operator for the Army. Staff Sergeant Benjamin Spears absolutely LOVED serving as an Army Mariner while serving on the LCU- 2000 series of the United States Army Vessels. He loved everything about the water. Ben truly loved his job.

Beyond his love for his wife, his children, his job, and the water, Benjamin was a big gamer, and he loved riding his 2024 650 Ninja Kawasaki. His motorcycle was his baby, his peace. While serving as 329 CWC Motorcycle Mentor, Staff Sergeant Spears led 4 mentorship rides, resulting in no accidents in 750 miles. Benjamin felt so much joy and peace when he got to ride with his brothers from work.

Ben was the biggest child. He loved playing with his kids and never letting them win. Ben taught Amina and Roman how to roller-skate, and that’s a memory they will never forget. Benjamin was such a fun-loving person and an amazing man! Though he may be gone, he will NEVER be forgotten. He will live in our hearts FOREVER. Rest In Peace Big Dog, My Love, My Benji.

Benjamin was preceded in death by: his Mimi, Jacqueline Faye Saloman.
