Stanley H. Smith

April 16, 1913 — October 26, 2005

Stanley H. Smith, 92, formerly of 716 W. Hillcrest Drive, died Wednesday, at the home of his daughter, at 906 Oakstone Drive, following an illness. Mr. Smith was a native of Johnson City and lifelong resident, son of the late Stanton P. and Fannie Rhea Linville Smith. He was a retired Vice President of Lancaster Associates. He was a 64 year member of the Elks, BPOE #825, Johnson City, Past Exalted Ruler, Past State President, Past District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler ( a state office). He assisted with the Boy Scout Troop # 38 and was a member of Mr. Beeson?s Troop #8. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Montgomery Smith Smith and his sedcond wife, Blanche Moore Smith; two brothers; Tom and Elmore Smith; and two sisters, Virginia Sigler and Ruth Cox. Survivors include: a son, Tony (& Carolyn) Smith; a daughter, Judy (& Allen) Shipley; a sister, Kathryn Cox all of Johnson City; a grandson, Michael Derek Wagner; three granddaughters, Robin Hartley, Heather Coonley, all of Johnson City, and Samantha Smith of Charlottesville, VA.:; a great granddaughter, Hannah Coonley; and three great grandsons, Dylan, Dakota and Dawson Wagner; several nieces and nephews; and two special caretakers, Elaine Walker and Dianna Sauls. A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, October 28, 2005 at 8:00 p.m. in the Morris - Baker Funeral Home North Chapel, under the direction of Pastor Don Muncie. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until time of service at eight. At other times, friends may call at the home of his daughter, Judy Shipley, 906 Oakstone Drive, Johnson City. A committal service will be conducted on Saturday, October 29, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. in the Monte Vista Memorial Park, family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 12:30 p.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Richard Treadway, Ben Pat Bailey, Michael Derek Wagner, Matt Coonley, Chris Hartley and Ron Winters. Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to 1st Presbyterian Church, 105 S. Boone Street, Johnson City, TN 37604 or to the Child Evangelism Fellowship, 908 Chase Drive, Johnson City, TN 37604 or (423) 9280-8848.
