Stella Guinn VanHorn passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 25, 2016. She was born on July 30, 1948 to the late Ike ?Bud' Price and Helen Marie Price. She retired after 38 years of dedicated service at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. Stella attended Trinity Baptist Church in Jonesborough, TN. Survivors left to cherish her memory are: husband, John VanHorn; daughter, Gina Grindstaff and her husband Charlie, of Piney Flats; son, Tommy Guinn; grandchildren, Hunter Grindstaff and his wife Bethany, Kara Grindstaff, Lucas Grindstaff, all of Piney Flats, Christian Guinn and Cierra Guinn, of Georgia; step children, John VanHorn and his wife Lisa, Daphine Green and her husband Lee, Chad VanHorn, all of New York; brother, Ike Glenn Price and his wife Debbie, of Roan Mountain; sister, Barbara Bishop and her husband Leslie, of Johnson City; lifelong friends, Mary, Kathy, Strick, and Judy; fur babies, Parker and Daisy; and several step grandchildren, aunts, and uncles. Stella will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, fiery spirit, and love and loyalty to her family and friends. We would like to extend our gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Regional Cancer Center and Amedisys for their love and support during this difficult time. The family of Stella Guinn VanHorn will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Monday, March 28, 2016, in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7 pm with Pastor Mark Harrod officiating. A graveside committal service will be conducted at 1 pm Tuesday, March 29, 2016, in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be: Hunter Grindstaff, Lucas Grindstaff, Nathan Smith, David Watts, Alan Faulkner, and Chad VanHorn. Minister, family, and friends are requested to meet at Morris-Baker by 12:30 pm Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
