Stella Mae Blackwell, age 90, of Johnson City, died Friday, April 22, 2011, at the Lakebridge Health Care Center. She was a Savannah, GA native, who was raised in Charleston, SC, and relocated to Tennessee in 1995. She was a daughter of the late Fred and Corrie Zahler Simmons. Mrs. Blackwell was a homemaker and a realtor. She was a member of Princeton Presbyterian Church, Johnson City. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Richard M. Blackwell, and six brothers and sisters. Survivors include: two sons, Richard M. Blackwell, and his wife Regina, Johnson City, Gregory Bruce Blackwell, and his wife Sandra, Papillion, NE; one sister, Thelma Temple, Chesterton, IN; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family of Stella Blackwell will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Tuesday at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. Committal services are scheduled for 4:00 PM Wednesday in the Old St. Andrews Parish Church Cemetery, Charleston, SC. Rev. Marshall Huey will officiate. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery for those services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Princeton Presbyterian Church, 2703 East Oakland Avenue, Johnson City, TN 37601-1843.
