Susan Holloway, our mom and your friend, has gone to be with the Lord, Thursday, September 9, 2010. She was 100, a resident of Johnson City for 47 years and died at the Center on Aging and Health in Erwin. She was a native of Watagua, daughter of the late George W. and Louise Baumgardner Hayes, born in 1909. Susan was homemaker. In addition to her parents her husbands Ruel Phillips and John Holloway, a son and daughter Troy Phillips and Ruby Baird, preceded her in death. A mother for 83 years, survivors include: two sons, Dean Phillips (Ruth) of Johnson City and John Holloway, Jr. (Jackie) of Hampton; four daughters, Trixie Baird of Johnson City, Polly Gentry (Roscoe) of Erwin, Mary Kearney (Carl) of Gray and Becky Berry (Lawrence) of Erwin ; thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. Her life will go on through these children. A funeral service is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 12, 2010 in the South Chapel of the Morris '? Baker Funeral Home under the direction of Pastor Ken Hauser. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. A committal service will be conducted following the funeral service in the George Mottern Cemetery. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
