Sylvia Helen Kearney Hyder

May 30, 1914 — April 1, 2015

Sylvia Helen Kearney Hyder, 100, has gone to spend eternity with Our Lord and Savior. She was born and resided in Jonesborough all her life. She is a daughter of the late James Elias and Sylvia Depew Vines. Sylvia was a resident of the Appalachian Christian Village recently until her death. She was a homemaker and member of the Christian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Carl Kearney and Albert Hyder; two brothers, J. E. and William I. Vines, a sister, Rose Campbell. Survivors include: her two daughters, Jean Keefauver of Johnson City and Carlene Kyker of Lakebridge Healthcare Center; a son, Carl, Jr. and his wife Mary Kearney of Gray; a sister, Sarah Gregg of Jonesborough; five grandchildren, Ron and Peggy Dykes of Johnson City, Janine Dykes of Johnson City, Susan Dykes Tunstall and Charles of Greenville, Rick and Tonya Kyker of Gray, Cindy Kyker Bolton of Johnson City; three great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren. The committal service will be conducted at 10:00 am in the chapel of the Monte Vista Mausoleum under the direction of Dr. Wayne Emery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Morris ? Baker Funeral Home on April 4, 2015. At other times friends may call at the homes of her children. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the East Unaka Christian Church, Electrical Repair Fund, 1201 East Unaka Avenue, Johnson City, TN 37601.
