Sylvia Payne Jones

Sylvia P. Jones, 82, of 1143 Lakeridge Drive, Dandridge, TN died Wednesday, April 23, 2008 in the Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Jefferson City, TN. Mrs. Jones was a native of Washington County who had lived in Johnson City since 1944. She was the daughter of the late Frank W. and Lura Brown Payne. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Ray Jones in 1995; two sisters, Shirley Miller and Pat Painter; two brothers, Don and Robert Payne. Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and a volunteer worker with North Side Hospital. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include: one daughter, Sheila Boggs and her husband Doug of Dandridge, Tenn.; two sisters, Billie Masters of Atlanta, Georgia and Nancy Hilton of Johnson City; one brother, Charlie Payne of Limestone; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Sylvia P. Jones will be conducted at 7 PM Friday, April 25, 2008 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Craig Ponder will officiate. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 AM Saturday, April 26, 2008 in the New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, Limestone. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery at 10:45 AM Saturday. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 5 to 7 PM Friday prior to the service.
