Sylvia Williams Petrella, 68, of Johnson City, died June 25, 2020 at the Johnson City Medical Center.
She was a Huntsville, AL native who adventured to East Tennessee years ago with a friend. She was a daughter of the late Harry Sylvester and Frances Griffin Williams.
Sylvia worked as an administrative assistant at ETSU. She was proud of her work in academics and loved her coworkers and the students she served.
She was a free spirit who was confident in herself. Sylvia was an outstanding parent and friend. She was artistic and loved to cook and listen to classical music.
Survivors include: daughter, Larissa Petrella of Fairfax, VA; brother, Harry Williams, Jr., and his wife Patricia, of Las Vegas; niece, Marian Williams Russ, and her husband Christopher, of Las Vegas; great-nephew, CJ Russ, of Las Vegas; her first husband, Rocco Petrella, of Huntsville, AL; sister-in-law, Maria Petrella Ackley, and her husband John, of Pennsylvania; nephews, Zane Ackley and Zac Sartori, of Pennsylvania; sister-in-law Vickie Sloup, and her husband Les of Madison, AL; nephew, Michael Sloup, of Madison, AL; and best friends and Johnson City family, Shanna Compton, Donna Nelson, and Stefanie Murphy.
Morris-Baker Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2001 E. Oakland Ave., Johnson City, is serving the Petrella family.
