Sylvia Sue Walker

Sylvia Sue Walker, 70, of Johnson City, passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native of Knoxville and a daughter of the late Everett Columbus Wood and Mildred Hazel Bentley Wood. Mrs. Walker retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital in Johnson City as a supervisor in histology. She enjoyed her Grandchildren and loved to cook. She was an avid gardener and loved to travel. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Vernon C. Walker, Sr.; one daughter, Wendy Holden and her husband, Tim of Johnson City; one son, Vernon C. Walker, Jr. and his wife Amanda; four Grandchildren, Lauren and Tanner Holden and Cameron and Conner Walker; one sister, Kay Haralson. Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday, August 26, 2010 from the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Dr. Tim Wallingford will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 until 2:00 pm on Saturday.
