T N H. Myers

November 23, 1925 — March 22, 2008

TN Myers, 82, of 705 Woodhaven Drive, Johnson City died Sunday, March 23, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Myers was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City and a son of the late Henry D. and Cora Shoun Myers. He attended elementary and junior high in Johnson City and graduated from Science Hill High School. He also graduated from Steed College with a degree in accounting. Mr. Myers worked at Eustis Lancaster Associates as an accountant. He then worked for General Shale Products Corporation in various jobs in the Accounting and Finance Departments. He retired in 1986 after thirty years of service. At his retirement he was the Corporate Secretary and Assistant Treasure. Mr. Myers served his country in the U.S. Army transportation, attaining the rank of Corporal from 1953 to 1955. He was an active member of the Central Baptist Church and the William Rigell Sunday School Class. Mr. Myers was active in Little League Baseball serving as coach of the General Shale 'Generals'? for 25 years. He was also an active supporter of Science Hill and ETSU athletics. Mr. Myers was a current member of the Johnson City Civitan Club and the State of Franklin Investment Club. He was a former member of the Johnson City Jaycees. Mr. Myers is preceded in death by: his parents; his wife of thirty one years, Hazel Duncan Myers in October of 2003; a brother, Henry E. Myers; and a nephew, Richard Myers. Survivors include: one brother, Walter J. Myers and wife Hazel Dykes Myers of Johnson City; one sister, Anna Myers Burton of Commerce, GA; a sister-in-law, Dorthy and husband Harold Polk of Lexington, KY; two nephews, Thomas Polk of Lexington, KY and Wallace King of Gray, TN; six nieces, Gail Myers of Elizabethton, Norma Myers Riddle of Hampton, Betye Farmer of Greeneville, TN, Linda McGinnis of Charleston, SC, Janet Childress of Hernando, MS, and Nancy King of Greeneville, TN; several great nieces and nephews also survive The funeral service for TN Myers will be conducted at 8 PM Tuesday, March 25, 2008 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel . Dr. Ron Murray and Chaplain Doug Hinshaw, will officiate. Music will be by Mr. Ray Bowman, soloist. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday prior to the service. The committal service will be conducted at 10 AM Wednesday in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 9:55 AM on Wednesday. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the William Rigell Sunday School Class of Central Baptist Church, fellow workers at General Shale Products, coaches and former players of the General Shale 'Generals Little league, and the members of the Johnson City Civitan Club. The family wish to express their appreciation for the wonderful care and concern shown by the caregivers of the Quality Elder Care and the Adventa Hospice.
