Taylor Alf Sims, 92 of Johnson City, died Friday, November 6, 2009 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born May 10, 1917. He was a son of the late, Delia Mariah Morris Sims. and Pettibone Sims. Taylor was a World War II veteran. He was a retired painter from East Tennessee State University. He was a member of the Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church.Taylor married Elizabeth Sims on October 31, 1947. In addition to his parents Mr. Sims was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Henry Sims and Stanley Mackey Sims, one sister, Janie Sims.Survivors include, his wife, Elizabeth Starnes Sims; one son, Roger Sims and wife, Gail of Gray; one daughter, Scharee Hill and husband Dewey of Johnson City; five grandchildren, Daniel Hill and wife Betty of Johnson City, Anthony Hill and wife Kathy of Johnson City, Shauna Billingsley and husband, Sam of Franklin,TN, Tara Lynch and husbandMatthew of Gray and Tiffany Godsey and Husband Wes of Kingsport; six great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Hill, Cameron Hill, Jacob Hill, Taylor Lynch, Andrew Lynch and Claire Billingsley.Funeral services will be conducted at 5:00 pm Sunday, November 8, 2009 from the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Paul Crowe will officiate. Burial will be held on Monday at 11:00 am at the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Rev. Dale Ball will officiate. Active pallbearers will be the following Grandchildren, Daniel Hill, Anthony Hill, Sam Billingsley, Matthew Lynch and Wes Godsey. The family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10:30 on Monday and proceed to the cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 until 5:00 pm on Sunday. Friends may call at other times at the home of a daughter, Scharee, 229 Taylortown Road in Johnson City.
