Ted Laughren, 509 Richard McLaughlin Rd., died Friday, October 7, 2005, at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Laughren was a native of Yancey County, NC, and had lived most of his life in the Tri-City area. He was a son of the late R.C. and Allie Edwards Laughren and was also preceded in death by his wife, Annabell Walker Laughren; two brothers, J.B. Laughren and Larmer C. Laughren; one daughter, Linda Faye Rover Coker Clay; and one sister, Maude Laughren Roberts. Mr. Laughren was a retired surveyor and a former employee of Clark and Associates. He was a US Army veteran and was stationed in Alaska. Mr. Laughren attended Buffalo Valley Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include six sons, Larmer Laughren, David Laughren and James Laughren, all of Unicoi, Teddy Laughren, Maryville, Jerry Laughren and Larry Laughren, both of Johnson City; two daughters, Penny Laughren Winters, Elizabethton, and Martha Lee Roberts, Erwin; two brothers, Carl Laughren, NC, and Paul Laughren, Middlesburg, FL; many grandchildren; and many great grandchildren. A funeral service for Mr. Laughren will be conducted at 4 PM Sunday, October 9, 2005, from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Reverend Dallas Gregg and Kevin Laughren will officiate. Pallbearers will be selected from family members. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Monday at Jones Cemetery, Erwin. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 1:30 PM and travel in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
