Tempie Lou Honeycutt

May 22, 1920 — August 30, 2010

Tempie Honeycutt, widow of Frank Honeycutt, died on Monday, August 30, 2010 at the Appalachian Christian Village where she had resided for the past several years. She was born on May 22, 1920 in Mitchell County, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Gibbs and Martha Honeycutt. Mrs. Honeycutt was one of ten children all deceased, with the exception of one devoted brother, Dallas Honeycutt of Johnson City. Special relatives who will cherish her memory include, Teresa Gregory, Brenda Carden, Barbara Clark and Melba Goulding all of Johnson City; others are Rose Crafton Sparks and Edna Blevins of Winston-Salem, NC; Finnie Kipping of Murfreesboro, TN; and Betty Jo Leonard of Roanoke, VA. 'Aunt Temp'? as she was known to her numerous nieces and nephews, was a kind, loving person who approached life with a giving, gentle spirit. Her sense of humor and ability to 'look on the bright side'? will be remembered with joy by her loved ones. She took pleasure in 'walks down memory lane'? and enjoyed family reunions where childhood stories were shared with love and laughter. She was especially proud of young people in her family and enjoyed celebrating the weddings, births and graduations of close and extended relatives. Although unable to attend church for the past few years, she openly professed her faith by stating, 'Im saved and ready to go.'? The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 1, 2010, from 11:00 am until 12 Noon in the Morris Baker South Chapel. A celebration of Mrs. Tempie Honeycutts life will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at 12 Noon in the Morris Baker South Chapel with Henry McCarthy and Rev. Robert T. Edmonds officiating. Burial will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
