Terry Allan Presnell, 66, of Johnson City, TN, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones at Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol, TN. The world lost a great son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Terry was born on July 25, 1956, in Elizabethton, TN. He was the son of Llyod and Phyllis (Stanley) Presnell. He enlisted in the Air Force at 17, in hopes of serving his country during the Vietnam War, in 1974. While stationed in Goldsboro, NC, he met and later married Debra (Robichaud) Presnell on May 25, 1980, by Terry’s grandfather Frank Presnell. In his 20 years of service, he was stationed stateside and in many foreign nations, including Kadena AFB in Okinawa, Japan, RAF Bentwaters and RAF Lakenheath in England (Sarah’s birthplace), and Clark AFB in the Phillipines (Stephany’s birthplace). He also served in Operation Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia from 1991-1992. In 1994, Terry retired, and the family moved to the sunshine state, Florida. He enjoyed spending time with his family, listening to music, watching movies, fishing, and bird watching.
Terry and Debra were married for 36 years, prior to her passing in 2016. He was also preceded by his father Lloyd and brother Steven. Terry is survived by his mother Phyllis, brother Kevin, children (Jessica, Lucien, Sarah and Stephany) and their spouses (Louie, Megan and Jamie), 13 grandchildren (Tamara, Vanessa, James, Vincent, Katie, Desirae, Maliya, Emma, Maelee, Kaedynce, Tristan, Huntor, and Paige), and 6 great-grandchildren (Leilani, Alexander, August, Dominic, Jasper, and Rosalie).
Service is being held on Thursday, January 26th at the Mountain Home National Cemetery at 53 Memorial Ave, Mountain Home, TN 37684 (in Johnson City) at 2:00 P.M. Those wishing to attend are asked to please meet at the cemetery by 1:45 P.M.
Terry’s request is that in lieu of flowers, please donate to Wounded Warrior Project or Tunnel to Towers.
