Terry Lee Parsons

Mr. Terry Lee Parsons, 64, of Jonesborough, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2011 in the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Washington County and a son of Fletcher L. Parsons and the late Verna Mae Gallimore Parsons. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one brother, Roger Dale Parsons and one sister, Betty P. Barnes. Mr. Parsons was a graduate of Science Hill High School and graduated from ETSU in 1971. He was the co-founder of the Boat Owners Association of Tennessee and was the editor of their newspaper for 16 years. He was the president for 4 years and vice president for 1 year. He was a Ham Operator # WD4TLP. Mr. Parsons retired from Leon- Ferenbach after thirty-six years where he worked in production and was the Textile Computer Programmer. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Phyllis Roe Parsons; one daughter, Terra Combs and her husband Brandon C. of Johnson City; two Grandchildren, Cody L. Combs and Parrish B. Combs both of Johnson City; two nieces, Kelly R. Barnes and Alicia Roe both of Johnson City and one brother in law, Johnny Roe and his wife Lisa of Johnson City. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 pm Sunday, May 22, 2011 from the Morris Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Dr. Wayne Emery will officiate. Burial services will be held Monday at 10:00 am from the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:45 am Monday for the cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the Muscular Distrophy Association, 6408 Papermill Drive #230, Knoxville, TN 37919. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday.
