Thad Hall, 86, Boones Creek, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, December 29, 2008, at the home of his daughter. Mr. Hall was a native of Washington County, and lived in the Rockingham community of Boones Creek most of his life. He attended Boones Creek School. He was born March 25, 1922, to the late John M. and Etta McCray Hall. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Madge Goodman Hall, two brothers, Virgil Hall and George Hall. Mr. Hall served in the Army, and retired from the Mead Corporation after 40 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He became known as 'The Old Fisherman'? on the CB Radio, through which he made many close friends, and became acquainted with many people from a number of states. His CB Radio friends were a big part of his life. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church for 55 years, where he attended the Bible Way Sunday School Class. Mr. Hall is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Dana Ferguson, Boones Creek; two granddaughters: Lindsey Ferguson Smith and Lacey Ferguson; three great grandchildren: Austin, Tyler, and Nathan. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 1, 2009, at Morris Baker Funeral Home at 8 PM, with Rev. Charles 'Tooney'? Cash officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 6 to 8 PM. Interment will be Friday, January 2, 2009, at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens at 11 AM. Active Pallbearers will be Bob May, Bobby Shaffer, Jim Brewer, Ricky Hall, Jeff Rhoton, Kelly Botts, James Barker, and Charlie Ellis. Honorary Pallbearers are 'Colonel Hawk'? and all the CB Radio friends. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all the CB Radio friends, and thank them for all of their faithful visits and friendships.
