“Precious in the Sight of the Lord is the Death of His Saints.” Psalm 116:15
Thelma Pierce, 94, of Johnson City, an amazing and much loved Lady, was lifted by God’s angels into the light and glory of Heaven on February 18, 2020. Her passing leaves many without guidance, but the wisdom, humor, and love she left here on earth will be everlasting.
Mrs. Pierce was the daughter of the late Richard G. and Thelma Tomlinson.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Grady Stanley Shelton, Sr.; her second husband, Junior Pierce; twin sister, Martha T. Miller in 2008; and her son, Grady Stanley Shelton, Jr.
Those left to carry on her memory are her daughter, Jewel Greene; beloved Granddaughter, Rena’ Williams; her cherished great- granddaughter, Jenna Williams, all of Johnson City; as well as many beloved cousins and friends.
Mrs. Pierce had many interests, but they were secondary to serving her Lord and her family. She was the perfect example of the Christian Woman and Mother described in Proverbs 31. She was always a lady, demanding high moral standards of her family while encouraging and expecting them to always do their best. Mrs. Pierce was a good and caring Mother who made many sacrifices for the benefit of her children. Her greatest pleasure in life was sharing in the accomplishments of her children, grandchild and great-grandchild. We mourn her passing, but are proud of the legacy of love, kindness, loyalty and compassion she leaves behind.
At her request there will be no funeral. She will be laid to rest at Monte Vista Cemetery in a private family service.
