Rev. Theodore Fleenor, 99, Johnson City, was promoted to Glory on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013. He was a son of the late Alonza and Myrtle Watts Fleenor. He was born on Sept. 4,1914 in Big Stone Gap, VA. He lived most of his life in Johnson City, TN. He was a Free Will Baptist Minister for more than 45 years. He was the pastor of First Free Will Baptist Church in Pennington Gap, VA and East Fairview Free Will Baptist Church in Elizabethton, TN. Rev. Fleenor spoke at more than 45 churches. He retired from Mason Dixon after 38 years of service. Rev. Fleenor was a member of Rich Acres Free Will Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Jacks Creek Free Will Baptist Association, International Brotherhood of Teamsters Retirees Chapter of Local 549, and a member of the Arcana Lodge #489 F&AM. Rev. Fleenor was a Shriner. He is preceded in death by: his wife, Gladys Black Fleenor; a daughter, Barbara Fleenor Bradford; one grandson, Larry Fleenor; six sisters, Opal Fleenor, Dorothy Fleenor, Nina Ruth Fleenor, Bernice Gouge, Novella Bowman, and Shirley Honeycutt; and one brother, Albert Fleenor. Survivors include: one daughter, Kathleen (Kenneth) Hill, Johnson City; one son, Richard (Pat) Fleenor, Johnson City; one brother, Hershel (Irene) Fleenor, Elizabethton; grandchildren, Gary Fleenor, Tina Rocco, Amy (Chris) Knight, Dedra (Eric) Winter, and Randel Hill; ten great-grandchildren, Jason Fleenor, Patrick Fleenor, Katie Fleenor, Emily Knight, Megan Knight, Jordan Winter, Savannah Winter, Cody Hill, Calee-Ann Hill and Jacob Hill; and six great-great grandchildren. The family of Rev. Fleenor will receive friends at Rich Acres Free Will Baptist Church Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 pm with Rev. Kenneth Grindstaff officiating. Pallbearers will be: Randel Hill, Chris Knight, Eric Winter, Jordan Winter, and Earl Hughes. Honorary pallbearers will be the ministers of the Jacks Creek Free Will Baptist Association. Friends are also welcome to visit at the home of Kathleen Hill. Graveside services will be conducted at Monte Vista Memorial Park 1:00 PM Friday, Sept. 27, 2013. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:30 PM Friday to go in procession to the cemetery for those services. The family extends special thanks to the members of Rich Acres Free Will Baptist Church and the staff of Christian Care Center of Johnson City for their love and great care.
