Theodore “Ted” Lewis Cassell, Jr., age 53, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 19, 2019.
Ted was born on December 6, 1965 to Theodore Lewis Cassell, Sr. and Gretchen McDonald Cassell in Washington D.C. He grew up in Columbia, Maryland where he attended Owen Mills High School and Howard County Community College.
Ted worked at AO Smith as a machinist for 17 years. He was an avid sports fan from a young age. He especially loved football and the Kansas City Chiefs. Every Sunday during football season Ted was in his Chiefs attire, with his lucky Chiefs mug, hats and blanket. He was also a fan of the Baltimore Orioles in baseball, and the Washington Wizards in basketball.
He greatly appreciated music of all genres, but was a big fan of Miles Davis, Frank Sinatra, and songs of the 80s. Ted loved to read and frequently utilized the local library and bookstores. He was a connoisseur of good food, made incredible BBQ ribs and had a great affinity for sweets, pies, Tasty Cakes and Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream.
Ted was an incredibly loving husband, step-father, and friend. He will always be remembered as an extremely kind and caring, sweet, gentle, loving soul. He was a very calm and laid back person who was always so thoughtful and considerate of others. Ted had a heart of gold. He will be truly missed by all who loved him and those whose lives he touched.
Those left to cherish his memory and always love Ted include: his parents; wife of 17 years, Becky Cassell; step-son, Joey Moore (and wife, Kristiin); and step-grandson, Luca Moore. His parents - in - law, Charlie and Jill Jessee, brothers-in-law Richard Jessee (and wife, Alyse) and John Jessee. Special friend, Julia Basilio.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
